Advanced Driving
Car & Light Van Training
Our basic defensive driving course is a one day course covering discussion on crash statistics, the causes of crashes and methods that can be used to minimise the possibilities of being involved, our most popular course.
The course starts with a discussion lasting about 90 minutes on the causes of road crashes. It introduces the delegates to a 'risk assessment' approach to their driving which will reduce the chances of becoming involved in future incidents and also help to reduce the severity of any that may occur. The remainder of the day is spent in practical driving allowing the delegates to practice the principles previously discussed.
As well as improving safety these courses also help to reduce fuel consumption, 'wear and tear', journey times and stress levels of the driver. Each delegate receives a written report and a certificate of attendance following training. Follow up training is available if required.
All courses can be linked to our online assessment to enable you to target training towards your higher risk drivers first.
LGV Training
Drivers of LGVs are looked on as some of the best drivers found on Britain's roads, even so, anyone can benefit from extra training. The rules governing vehicles are constantly changing and a driver can easily find him or her self on the wrong side of the law. Our courses minimise the chances of your drivers, or the company, ending up in court.
On our courses your drivers will not be treated as if they were learners. All trainers are experienced in the field of road haulage with many of them still working regularly within the industry.
Courses usually start with a short theory session followed by a vehicle check in which the delegate will be asked to demonstrate a knowledge of required safety checks. The trainer will then give a short demonstration drive (if required) with the remaining time being given over to training. All types of road will be covered (where practical).
We understand that it may be difficult to take a vehicle off deliveries in order to attend training so in some cases it may be possible for our trainer to accompany your driver in the course of his or her normal duties - please contact us for details.
