Online Assessment
Why use online training?
There are several areas where computer based training scores over more traditional methods. For example, even the best trainer can have an ‘off-day’ where the quality of training suffers. Computer based training delivers a consistent level of quality and course content so you can be 100% sure that all staff have received the same level of training and assessment which in turn means that results can be evaluated accurately.
Another area where computer based training has the advantage over face to face training is that should it become necessary for the member of staff being trained to return to work the point they have reached in the course is recorded so that they can resume at a later time. This avoids tying up valuable members of staff for the duration of a course.
The third (and to some, the most important) reason for using computer based training is the cost saving. Face-to-face training works out considerably more expensive as employers have to employ the services of a trainer as well as providing a suitable venue. The alternative is for the employer to release members of staff to attend a training centre. Either way, staff members are lost for the duration of the course and other resources may be tied up. Computer based training is flexible and only needs one computer.
Courses
ArrivesafeArriveSafe provides a consistent method of assessing the practical elements of driving behaviour on today's roads. It is a user friendly format with clear photography and questions which takes approximately 40 minutes to complete, and if required can be closed down and resumed at any time.
This comprehensive Driver Risk Assessment programme provides employers with detailed statistics about their drivers. All assessment records are stored to a remote secure database (which can be accessed at any time) and results are issued instantly by means of an e-mail report, to a nominated person within your organisation. A report showing Group, Site and individual records can be generated from the Web Portal by personnel at their respective login levels. Administrators can enter action points in line with Company policy for any staff found to be weak in any areas.
How the assessment works
The assessment delivers the material in random order, thus minimising the risk of material becoming familiar. The driver is unaware which module each question is taken from and this prevents ‘desirable’ answering. Performance is assembled into modules for the final report.
The assessment looks at the following areas:
- Driver profile: The driver profile is a declaration of personal driving history and captures far more information than a copy of a Driving Licence could provide. A number of issues, recognized by the Insurance industry as high risk and needing further appraisal, have been flagged so that their appearance in a driver's profile triggers an e-mail alert with a link to a secure web page where the profile can be viewed.
- Attitude: This module measures behaviour and attitude towards every day traffic scenarios.
- Hazard Perception: This module measures ability to recognise hazards. The installed (to a PC) version delivers video footage containing rear view mirror views and local sound, the online version employs a selection of screen “hot spots” in static images which the candidate has to identify. This portion of the assessment is time-based thus providing a more realistic situation for testing response times.
- Knowledge: This module tests the driver's awareness of accepted driving protocols and car safety features.
- Highway Code: This module measures knowledge of Road Laws and Signage and is similar to the Driving Standards theory test.

Take Care – Health & Safety Induction trainingTakeCare delivers accurate knowledge of a broad range of essential Health & Safety subjects in a user friendly way. It is supported by relevant photographs and narration.
The employee sits the assessment without supervision which avoids tying up other valuable members of staff so they can continue their normal duties. The employee is examined after each module, and receives a certificate of achievement on completion of the training. Employee performance is recorded to a database where it can be viewed from the web portal.
Modules Include:
- Employer's Responsibilities
- Employees Responsibilities
- Preventing Accidents Slip & Trip
- Manual Handling
- Display Screen Equipment
- CoSHH Labels
- Hazard Signs Solvents
- Stress
- Pregnancy
- First Aid
- Fire Safety
Workplace modules can be selected or developed that provide specific education for the safety issues unique to each workplace. For example, the workplace modules for the Automotive Retail Industry are:
- Offices
- Workshop
- Bodyshop
- Parts Department
- Valeting Bay
- Public Access areas
If you have a need for a workplace module you cannot see here then please contact us so we can discuss your needs.
